Grounds Manager
The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute seeks a full-time Grounds Manager to direct, maintain and improve the Institute’s distinctive properties and physical grounds. Supervise grounds staff, contractors, and coordinate staff and contractor workflow.
This position requires a degree in turf management or related field. Manager is responsible for coordinating grounds maintenance operations including snow and ice removal and all related equipment. This is a physically demanding position which requires heavy lifting and working with other departments when needed.
Must be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility in response to changing priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the care of customers lawn and or landscapes within your assigned geographic area
- Responsible for maintaining or exceeding customer satisfaction for all Broccolo Tree & Lawn Care customers
- Inspection of trees, shrubs and lawns for evidence of insects, disease or environmental stresses
- Use of IPM techniques to treat for plant problems while upholding the Broccolo Tree & Lawn Care standards
- Accountable for customer relations through communication skills which include
- Listen and communicate with customers to insure customers are satisfied with the results of any applications, inspections, or other services.
- Communicate verbally and through written notes advising customers on plant health care
- Follow all safety regulations, precautions and label directions in regard to mixing, storage, transportation and
application of pesticides, fertilizers and/or other materials, including filling out DOT sheets and DEC records on a daily basis
- Assist in other departments as needed depending on productions pressures
- Handle tools and truck with safety, cleanliness and care in usage, storage and transport
- Be able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs. to load and unload trucks of equipment and products to perform applications of
fertilizers and any other control measure (i.e. – push loaded commercial fertilizer spreader across lawns, pull spray
hose to length, etc.).
- Identify sales leads, up sell needed services while on properties and canvas neighbors with literature provides as time
allows
- Maintain production and sales goals established
- Fill out appropriate paperwork and turn in daily
Compensation
- Hourly wage based on experience and/or schooling. Time and a half for overtime, full time year round position as sales dictate

JOB IDENTIFICATION: Groundskeeper
Split shift:
Monday, Tuesday & Friday - 8 am – 4 pm,
Saturday and Sunday - 6 am - 2 pm
RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain campus landscape including; litter and trash removal, plant collections, turf and athletic fields, stadium cleanup, parking fields, snow / ice cleanup and control.
Installation of new and renovation of existing landscapes. Set-up and breakdown of outdoor campus events. Operate tools and machinery in a safe and efficient manner. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be familiar with the care, operation and maintenance of hand and power gardening tools and grounds maintenance equipment.
Ability to repeatedly lift at least 50 pounds, work vibrating hand-held power tools for extended times, ability to perform kneeling, bending and squatting motions for extended times, ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
Occasionally works overtime and weekends as business needs require for projects, snow storms and campus emergencies.
Must be able to communicate in English (written and verbal) and interact effectively with a broad range of co-workers, staff, students and visitors. The ability to read and understand pesticide labels, machinery safety manuals and new information related to horticultural practices is required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of two years proven experience in horticulture or related field.
High School diploma required, Associates Degree or higher preferred. Must posses a valid N.Y. State drivers license. N.Y.S. Pesticide Applicator and/or CNLP Certification is a plus.

Faery’s golf and landscape is a golf course renovation company and our primary territory is in central and western New York State.
We are looking for full and part time employees to help with our construction projects. We are willing to teach an ambitious candidate while they are working with the crews if they have little previous experience.
The full time position would involve working with and supervising a crew and or job, depending on the experience of the applicant.
Operation and knowledge of equipment is a plus but not essential.
We do all types of golf course renovation (greens construction, tees, bunkers, practice facilities, irrigation systems, drainage, etc…) We continue in the spring of 2009 with a bunker renovation project and continue into the summer with a green rebuild and a drainage project and hopefully a irrigation project.
This a full time job that includes some equipment repair and maintenance work in the winter.
Positions are open now applicants could start at anytime or anytime around April or May.
Compensation:
-Part time employee range $12.00 to $18.00 Pending applicants capabilities and experience.
-Full time employee range $35,000 to $55,000 per year pending education, experience and versatility.

BASIC FUNCTION:
To direct and supervise the safe work of assigned irrigation team members and work as a member along with them in a professional manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure daily work schedule assigned runs smoothly and is completed in an efficient manner.
- Operate irrigation equipment to include trenchers, pipe pullers, tampers, backhoes, skid steers, and various hand tools in accordance with approved operating requirements and safety procedures.
- Assure irrigation team members are operating equipment in a safe manner and using proper safety equipment at all times.
- Ensure operating machines have been oiled, cleaned, and fuel has been checked in accordance with approved procedures prior to the start of each day, between job sites, and at the end of the day.
- Ensure trucks and equipment are secured while on job sites.
- Ensure proper maintenance of company vehicles and report all accidents/damage/malfunctions to management immediately.
- Direct and participate in equipment maintenance duties on a scheduled basis per the company equipment maintenance procedures to include:
- Changing oil in equipment
- Cleaning oil and air filter
- Repairing broken equipment
- Report all injuries and occupational related illnesses immediately to management.
- Prepare and maintain all required records and reports in an accurate and timely manner to include hourly labor performed by irrigation team members.
- Train irrigation team members on safety rules and regulations, equipment operation, equipment maintenance and irrigation best practices in accordance with company procedures.
- Communicate and discuss any account problems with management to include dry areas, excessive wet areas, broken sprinklers, and running water.
- Report any safety related issues with the equipment or irrigation team members to team leader.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 65 lbs.
- Attend and participate in scheduled training sessions as required.
- Perform other related issues as assigned.
