SUMMER INTERNSHIP

As an intern, you will be afforded an opportunity to assist with the daily operations of a full-service landscape company. These duties will include assisting with mowing, edging, weeding, pruning trees and shrubs, planting annual beds/trees and shrubs, installation of hardscapes, pest identification and management, irrigation management, safe operation of turf equipment, and fertilizer and pesticide applications (appropriate CT DEP license required). Job Description: Responsible for the maintenance of all annual and perennial beds around the clubhouse area and throughout the golf course. Must be able to design and order the plantings. Responsible for the job assignments of staff personnel under the horticulturist supervision.
Skills: Must have knowledge of annual, perennials, and ornamental grasses as they apply to the local environment. Must be able to identify insect and disease problems on plantings. Must have people skills to deal with the golfers, as the position is very visible to the members and guests entering the club. Teach staff proper maintenance techniques.
